What we cover in this week’s recap:

🗞️News:

Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) vendor Klippa is acquired by SER Group

Intelligent Document Processing vendor Klippa has announced that it has been acquired by German intelligent content solutions provider SER Group. The IDP vendor was founded in the Netherlands in 2015 by Bart-Jan Maatman, Jeroen Bobbeldijk, Robert Jan Verheggen and Yeelen Knegtering. With this acquisition, SER Group will integrate Klippa’s advanced IDP capabilities into Doxis, its intelligent content automation platform, to better support customers in their digital transformation journey. Dr. John Bates, CEO of SER Group, explained: “Customers are looking for ever smarter and more cost-effective ways to automate document understanding and processing – from financial and identity documents to shipping and customs documents. With this acquisition, we are adding Klippa’s intelligence to the Doxis platform to create the most comprehensive, AI-powered ECM and IDP package available to enterprises today. Following accolades from IDC and Gartner, we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further and are excited to welcome Klippa’s talented team.” The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Yeelen Knegtering, Co-Founder and CEO of Klippa, commented: “The merger with SER Group is a huge growth opportunity for Klippa. It is already clear that together we will support new use cases and expand our international reach. Our technology and teams are closely aligned and highly complementary. That’s what makes this next phase so promising.” Yeelen Knegtering added: “For our amazing customers nothing changes. They can expect the same team, levels of service, products and innovation from us. Together with the amazing SER Management, we are going to further scale our products across the globe and push new innovations!” For Dan Lucarini, Senior Analyst at Deep Analysis, SER Group’s acquisition of Klippa is “part of the rush by ECM companies to catch up with AI”, as he writes in his analysis (with further insights into ECM and IDP, as well as Klippa itself). Dan concludes: “We think SER Group’s acquisition of Klippa is a smart move, positioning them to compete better in new IDP use cases against the IDP specialists. This will also help to keep current customers from defecting to another ECM platform.”
